Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde on Saturday described the results of the Assembly elections as historic, affirming that they determined the rightful place of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) and Shiv Sena.
The Mahayuti alliance is set to form the government within the next three days, with elected MLAs instructed to gather in Mumbai immediately.
Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis remarked that the people had rejected the politics of appeasement and had responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for unity with his message, "Ek Hai toh Safe Hai." Shinde further highlighted that the three parties had reached a mutual agreement on seat-sharing, ensuring that the government formation process would proceed smoothly.
The BJP-led Mahayuti alliance retained power in Maharashtra, securing 233 out of 288 Assembly seats, according to the final results from the Election Commission. In contrast, the opposition MVA won only 50 seats.
